Kaya Mawa and Ulendo Safaris enter new partnership in Malawi tourism
It’s been an exciting start to the year for Malawi Tourism and the good news keeps rolling with the successful conclusion of negotiations which have resulted in the owners of Kaya Mawa on Lake Malawi’s Likoma Island acquiring a shareholding in Lilongwe based Ulendo Safaris. Obvious synergies exist between Kaya Mawa and Ulendo who share a similar approach to the promotion and development of Malawi’s diverse tourism product. Each operation, while sharing resources and a wealth of experience, is committed to retaining their individual character and will continue to enjoy the personal and professional relationships built over time with guests, industry partners, operators and agents. Kaya Mawa, a member of Honourway’s marketing portfolio (www.honourway.com), enjoys a well earned reputation as Lake Malawi’s most exclusive island getaway and a key destination in any regional itinerary. Already considered to be one of the worlds most romantic destinations - the recent refurbishment of the lodge has been taken far beyond anyone’s expectations while retraining the character and unique charm that have made Kaya Mawa so popular with guests. Confidently claiming to offer one of Africa’s finest beach escapes, Kaya Mawa is unquestionably a competitive product on the world hospitality stage. As a leading independent DMC, Ulendo are proud of the support they have enjoyed from the travel trade in both Malawi and Zambia since starting inbound tour operations in 1998. Aside from offering a comprehensive range of tourism and travel related services, Ulendo enjoys developing exciting new products to complement Malawi’s tourism portfolio. The most recent addition being Huntingdon House on Satemwa Tea Estate www.satemwaulendolodges.com, a grand historical home sympathetically refurbished to recapture the grace and elegance of it’s proud history which contrasts wonderfully with the wildlife and lakeshore properties traditionally featured in regional itineraries. The respective products and services of both companies compliment each other well and while marketing activities will remain independent, reservations for Kaya Mawa will be coordinated by Ulendo’s team in Lilongwe in an effort to deliver a more efficient service to our agents. Headed up by Steve McConaghy steve@ulendo.net , Ulendo reservations also coordinate booking enquiries for Huntingdon House and Chawani Bungalow at Satemwa, Conforzi Lake House on the southern lakeshore, Burley House in Lilongwe and the new Tongole Wilderness Lodge currently being developed in Nkhotakota Game Reserve. Please contact either Rob McConaghy rob@ulendo.net at Ulendo or James Lightfoot james@kayamawa.com from Kaya Mawa who would welcome your comments or address any questions relating to this new partnership directly.
