Following the main road between Lilongwe and Mzuzu, visitors encounter the spectacular Viphya Plateau. At an average altitude 1200 meters above sea level, the area commands panoramic views across northern Malawi and enjoys a cool climate. Originally the area was covered with indigenousness Miombo woodland but now lays claim to being the largest man made forest in Africa and is made up of conifers and indigenous trees of Malawi.
